Bento rave + meetballs

I've been lazy blogging again... I didn't get online very much last week because I had a visitor, and won't be able to blog before Wednesday because I'm leaving for a short trip to London this night.

Anyway, good news are that I finally bought a proper camera which even as a special food mode.
than Hello Kitty and her other friends.
I managed to get a Monokuro bento box set- 4 boxes of which each one fits into the bigger one.

So these are the last mobile cam pictures... I fell in love with Monokuro Boo some months ago. It's a new Sanrio character, but a lot less kitschy.

I also got some glass ("grass") dividers, an onigiri mould (star, heart and bear shape!) and some Hello Kitty sauce cups.

And of course I have been cooking- I made the Meetballs from Cozy inside in any variation possible- they are heaven!

Random Bento

Just two random bento boxed from the last two weeks.
The red one has some fried vegetable brown rice, cherry tomatoes, melon slices, raisins and fig rolls.

The green is a Japanese-style one with plain white rice topped with green onions, cucumber and gomasia. The small tier has cabbage rolls with a tofu stuffing and ginger-y marinated mushrooms.

Seems like I managed the perfect vegan bolognaise this week. I made my usual red lentil bolognaise and added fresh oregano and about 1 tablespoon miso paste.

I took it to work and two of my coworkers came- always screaming!- to me and said "Finally, you're not vegan any longer." (as if that would be a good thing!)
I loved that I could fool them, but hated the situation. When I claimed it was definitely vegan, they changed their "yum, not vegan" comment to "well, its stinks anyway".
Can I say aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrgh really loud?

AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGH!

Seitan O'Greatness/ Sick day pizza

I'v never been keen on meat analogues, occasionally eat tofu, even more rarely tempeh and hadn't managed to make anything but brainy seitan so far.

Being put off by the brainy variety, I finally decided to give PPK's Seitan O'Greatness a try.
I'm feeling bad because from everybody's comments, I should be in love with the log and all.

...

But I just found it all right. It was damn easy to make, turned out good, but still...
I used it on pizza, on stir-fries and found it very versatile. Probably it's only me being put off by most things with a meaty texture.
I don't get what all the rambling is about- I'll stick with my beans and pulses!

Thai salad

I haven't been posting for two weeks because I really didn't have the time to cook and basically lived on salads, pasta and cookies (ok, only salads and cookies are new, I always live on pasta). Yesterday I made one of my first recipes from vegweb, and by far my favourite! It's very authentic, just the way I know it from a Thai friend. My personal changes are that I use fresh, grated garlic and ginger and lime juice instead of the powdery versions and am too lazy to smash the peanuts.
